A gasfitter is a tradesperson who installs or repairs appliances that are powered by gas. This might be a gas hob (also known as a gas cooktop or stove), a gas hot water cylinder, or a gas continuous flow hot water system.
As stipulated by WorkSafe NZ, any gas fitting work must be done by a currently certified gasfitter. This includes installing pipework, gas appliances and flues, and any additions and alterations, and they must issue a Gas Safety Certificate (GSC).
